Payment Policy – Sarah Express

Your secure, seamless checkout is our priority. This Payment Policy explains the payment methods we accept, how we process payments, security measures we use, and what to expect after you place an order.
Accepted Payment Methods
We accept trusted, secure payment options through Shopify’s PCI DSS Level 1 certified checkout:
- Major credit/debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover
- PayPal
- Accelerated checkout (where available): Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay
- Sarah Express Gift Cards and store credits (when applicable)
Note: The exact options may vary by device, location, and your payment provider.
Secure Transactions
- Your payment is processed via encrypted TLS/SSL connections.
- We do not store full card numbers on our servers; card data is tokenized by Shopify Payments.
- Shopify Payments is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant, the highest level of payment security.
- For UK/EU customers, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA/3‑D Secure) may be required by your bank.
Pricing, Currency, and Taxes
- Currency: All orders are processed in USD ($). If you pay in a different currency, your bank/payment provider may charge currency conversion or international transaction fees.
- Taxes: Applicable sales taxes are calculated at checkout based on your shipping address.
- Duties/Import Fees: For international shipments, any customs duties, VAT, or import fees are the customer’s responsibility unless stated otherwise at checkout.
Authorization, Charges, and Receipts
- We typically authorize and capture your payment at the time of order. In some cases, we may place an authorization hold and capture upon shipment.
- You’ll receive an order confirmation email after a successful payment.
- If your order ships in multiple parcels, you may see one total charge at order placement or partial captures per shipment, depending on the payment flow selected for your order.
Failed or Declined Payments
If a payment fails:
- Verify card details (number, CVV, expiry), billing address, and available funds.
- Contact your bank to approve/whitelist the transaction (especially for international or high-value orders).
- Try a different payment method (e.g., PayPal, another card).
- If issues persist, contact support at support@sarahexpress.com.
Fraud Prevention & Verification
To protect customers and our store, we use automated and manual fraud screening. We may:
- Request additional verification (e.g., confirming billing address or order details).
- Cancel or hold orders that fail verification or appear high-risk (you’ll be notified).
- Limit or disable transactions from accounts with repeated chargebacks or suspicious activity.
Shop Pay and Digital Wallets
Shop Pay, Apple Pay, and Google Pay may be offered for eligible devices and regions. Saved payment details are securely stored by the payment provider, not by Sarah Express.
Gift Cards and Store Credit
- Sarah Express gift cards can be redeemed at checkout and combined with one additional payment method if the balance doesn’t cover the full total.
- Refunds for orders purchased with gift cards are returned to the original gift card balance first.
Discounts and Promo Codes
- Only one promo code can typically be applied per order unless otherwise stated.
- Promo codes cannot be exchanged for cash and may not apply to taxes, shipping, or excluded items.
Unsupported Payment Methods
For security and fraud-prevention reasons, we do not accept:
- Cash, checks, money orders
- Bank transfers/wires (unless explicitly arranged by our support team)
- Cash on Delivery (COD)
Refunds to Original Method
- Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method used.
- Once processed by us, banks/payment providers may take 5–10 business days to post funds to your account.
- Shipping charges and return label fees (if applicable) are non-refundable unless the return is due to our error. See our Refund Policy.
International Payments
- Your bank may add cross-border/FX fees for purchases from a US merchant.
- Exchange rates are set by your bank/payment provider; Sarah Express does not control these rates or fees.
Order Changes and Cancellations
Orders can usually be modified or cancelled within 2 hours of placement. After this window, your order may have entered processing. Contact support@sarahexpress.com with your order number for the fastest help.
Invoices
Your order confirmation email serves as your receipt. If you need a formal invoice for VAT or accounting, contact support and we’ll provide one.
Chargebacks and Disputes
If there’s an issue with your order or a charge:
- Please contact us first at support@sarahexpress.com. We’ll resolve most issues quickly with a refund, replacement, or explanation.
- If a chargeback is filed, we’ll submit evidence of the order and delivery. Fraudulent or abusive chargebacks may result in account limitations.
Changes to This Payment Policy
We may update this Payment Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of our checkout after updates constitutes acceptance.
